      Waste Management

      In an effort to reduce the impact our conference has on the environment, the committee has worked with suppliers to incorporate initiatives throughout the event. You can learn more on the page.

      Simple things you can do to assist include:

      • Bring your own reusable water bottle
      • Bring your own lanyard (we will have spares, but reuse those old ones!)
      • Use the correct conference bins
      • Minimise your use of single-use plastics
      • Bring a keep cup to receive a $3 discount voucher at registration for Barista Coffee at the Aspire Cafe

      Field Trips – Additional Information

      Conference field trips will be proceeded by a smoking ceremony (8.30 am) on Monday 25 September 2023. Please meet at registration at Building 40. We will lead you over to the smoking ceremony and connect you with your tour hosts.

      Haven’t submitted your field trip preferences? Check out the field trip program and complete the form. We will do our best to place you in your preferred trip.

      Please see any additional requirements to be aware of for the field trips below.

      NOTE ABOUT TOURS:

      • Bring hat, bag, water bottle, and closed in shoes.
      • Wear sunscreen!
      • Check the weather in advance – be prepared!

      Field Trip 1: Warrawong

      • Walking shoes
      • Sense of humour
      • Comfortable clothing/rain/sun gear – will be standing on grassy areas near lagoon
      • There is only one toilet at the High School so to avoid delay in start time use toilets at Green Connect!

      Field Trip 2: Botanic Gardens

      • If you have binoculars, participants are encouraged to bring them

      Field Trip 3: Workshops at UOW

      • Outside on-site at UOW, no additional requirements

      Field Trip 4:  UOW Innovation Campus and Popes Produce

      • Participants need to be aware that there are steep hills and live swarms of bees at Popes Produce

      Field Trip 5: Shellharbour

      • The field trip includes steep steps, beach walking, uneven and rocky surfaces
      • Participants may choose instead to relax at the viewing platform which has spectacular views of the ocean and surrounds

      Field Trip 6: Tour and Workshops at UOW

      • Outside on-site at UOW, no additional requirements

      Field Trip 7: UOW and local bush sites

      • Appropriate clothing for planting session e.g. long pants
      • Gloves if you can, but we will have spares

      Brian Foreman Raffle

      Enter the raffle to win exciting prizes such as a Bed and Breakfast in Tasmania, or an acclaimed EE Publication. Raffle tickets will be on sale throughout the conference to support the attendance of the next Brian Foreman Scholarship Winner, and you can purchase these with cash in the morning at the registration desk (B40), during the day at the info desk (B20), or with card from Chay! The raffle will be drawn at lunchtime on Wednesday.

      Social Events

      Building 67 – Open to all conference attendees

      Conference Dinner – Tuesday, 7 PM

      City Beach Function Centre – Must purchase a registration, very limited tickets left!
